Ideals or Essentials ?

Ideals are one thing and reality is a different matter. Success cannot be achieved until one gives up part of these ideals and adjusts to his reality.

Those are words that I heard in different ways from different people at different stages of my life, and each time I used to ask the proclaimer about his definition of ideals and success. Although I received different answers, I found out that a large group of people included in their definition of ideals some of the basic elements that God imposed on us as a platform to follow when dealing with others, one’s self or with God.

Their definition of success, however, was only a secular definition apart from the hereafter, in a purely materialistic fashion that does not take into consideration humanitarian standards or moral values.

All those people need to reconsider their positions and take stock of themselves before they are judged. What they thought was success could be absolute failure when hereafter is added to the scale list, and what they call ideals is the criterion of their faith and trials. What they consider as reality that requires adjustment could possibly be a temporary reality that will fade away one day before the eternal reality, and then they will learn when it is too late.

“Indeed you were heedless of this, now We have removed your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!”
